Why this salon exists, and why the products on our shelves are chosen as carefully as the color on your hair.
The question we started with
As a salon owner, I believe beautiful hair should never require us to ignore what we're putting on our bodies — or what salon professionals are breathing and touching every day.
For decades, conventional hair salons have relied on products formulated with strong chemicals to permanently alter the hair. While these products can create beautiful results, growing research has raised important questions about the potential health effects associated with certain chemicals found in hair dyes, straighteners, and other beauty products.
Some ingredients and chemical exposures associated with conventional salon and personal-care products have been studied for their potential links to endocrine disruption, reproductive effects, respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, and certain cancers. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals are of particular concern because they can interfere with the body's natural hormone system. While the science varies significantly depending on the specific ingredient, product, amount of exposure, and type of salon service, I believe these questions give us a very good reason to be thoughtful about the products we choose.
That philosophy led me to Oway
Oway is an Italian professional hair color and hair care line that takes a more holistic approach to salon beauty, combining professional performance with botanical ingredients. Oway grows many of the herbs and plants used in its products biodynamically on its own farm in Bologna, Italy, with an emphasis on thoughtfully sourced ingredients and reducing unnecessary substances.
Why it matters over time
For me, choosing gentler products isn't about creating fear around traditional hair color. It's about recognizing that our cumulative exposure matters. Something we use once may seem insignificant, but salon professionals work with these products thousands of times throughout their careers, and many clients color their hair regularly for decades.
I wanted to create a salon where we ask a better question: if we can achieve beautiful, professional color while being more selective about the ingredients we use, why wouldn't we?
Healthy hair is also part of that philosophy — I want my clients to leave with hair that doesn't just look beautiful the day of their appointment, but feels healthy, soft, vibrant, and cared for long afterward.
What this means for you
Repeated chemical processing can weaken the hair fiber, contribute to dryness and breakage, and irritate sensitive scalps. My salon is built around the belief that luxury and wellness belong together. Every product choice is intentional. Every service considers the health and integrity of your hair. And I continually seek out professional products that allow me to reduce unnecessary chemical exposure without compromising the gorgeous color and results my clients expect.
